Providing a unique portal into the late 1800s, these historic documents reveal much more than just which side a soldier fought for and their military service record. Learn how to find documents about your own Civil War ancestors that tell stories of ordinary people and how they lived, reveal stories of lost loves, secret affairs, and for some, reveal who their enslaver may have been and what their life was like while enslaved.
